Option 1: Order a sound recording from Ringio

It costs $10. We send it to a professional voice recording studio. We upload it for you.

Option 2: Order a sound recording from a third party agency

For example: Voice 123

After you have your recording:

Now that you have a professional, high quality recording you are happy with, you need to make sure it can be played back correctly on phone systems, with its relatively low fidelity (when compared to stereo).

Chances are, the audio recording in your possession is pretty high quality, and won't play correctly unless you make some simple changes.

While this article tells you more about best practices and important things to set and give you step-by-step instructions on ensuring that your audio will work.  The most important things are to make sure that the following are true for your audio file:

- Your audio file is set to Mono (not stereo), 8KHz (or 8000Hz) (required for phones - instead of 22000HZ or other value for stereo)

- You may also want to enhance the amplitude of your file to raise the sound volume and trim off beginning and ending white noise for a succinct, compact recording.

- Finally, make sure that you export the file as a to 16bit PCM file.

Voxeo platform supports a number of different audio formats for our VoiceXML platforms. When converting your sound files, you may want to keep in mind that ALL audio files eventually get converted when output by the phone to a 8bit, 8Khz format upon playback, so for better performance in your application, it is always best to have your files in this format to begin with. The supported sound formats for the Voxeo VXML platform are as follows:
8bit, 8Khz, u-law Wave files (Riff Format)
16bit, 8Khz, PCM Wave files (Riff Format)
8bit, 8Khz, u-law Sphere files
16bit, 8Khz, PCM Sphere files
